The following release notes detail the enhancements we have included in this release.
HRTL-9334 Add Ability to Print Barcodes on Jewelry Labels via Bixolon and Zebra Printers from Windows and Mac Systems
This release introduces the ability for merchants using Heartland Retail Connect (HRC) on Mac and Windows systems to print thermal jewelry labels via their Bixolon and Zebra label printers. This allows them to create smaller scannable labels suitable for jewelry and other small items. To print, go to the Print Barcode Labels screen and select the following:
- From the Select Destination dropdown, select desired printer.
- From the Select label format dropdown select Thermal Jewelry Tags (2.2” x 0.5”).
The printed label will be formatted as pictured, with the item description and price on the left and the barcode and item number on the right.
HRTL-9833 Note ‘USB’ on USB-Connected Bixolon in Android
So merchants can more easily identify which Bixolon device to select when printing barcode labels, we now designate printers connected via USB as such in the dropdown. For example, a printer that was previously reflected as ‘Bixolon (xxxx0001)’ will now display as ‘Bixolon (USB)’.
HRTL-10290 Implement Permission for Changing Stations in POS
To prevent unauthorized station changes when using the Point of Sale, we introduce a new Change selected station on POS screen permission. As with other permissions, you can enable/disable access via Roles. When in POS, users with this permission can select the Station option from the menu on the left to open the Manage Station modal. Users without permission can still see the Station option, but it is disabled.
HRTL-10349 Update ‘View Instructions’ Link to HRC Download Page
We have updated the link behind the View Instructions button on the informational banner in the POS settings page, so it now goes directly to the Heartland Retail Connect (HRC) download page.
This allows merchants to easily download the latest version of HRC directly from the POS.
HRTL-10459 Add ‘Require Reason When Removing Gift Card from Ticket’ Setting
For greater control, this release introduces a new POS setting to Require reason when removing gift card from ticket. To use this option, you must first add reasons via the Manage reasons option below the setting.
When the setting is toggled to Yes, if you attempt to remove a gift card sale from a ticket, the POS will prompt you to select a reason from the list of defined options.
Once you have selected the reason, select Remove gift card to finalize the process.

HRTL-9730 Fixed Errors When Adding and Removing Items from Layaway
In previous versions, when attempting to add items to a layaway, the POS sometimes displayed errors and failed to add the items. As well, if you attempted to then remove one or more items, this process also failed and, again, the POS displayed errors. With this release, the POS handles such requests as expected and without error.
HRTL-10542 Fixed Validation Error When Saving Grid
In previous versions, merchants were sometimes unable to add new selections, such as additional colors, to dimensions on existing grids. In these instances, instead of saving the new colors, the POS displayed a validation error. With this release, the POS saves these grid updates as expected and without error.
HRTL-10591 Aligned ‘Remove’ Button for Removing Gift Card from Ticket
In previous versions, if you attempted to remove a gift card line from a ticket, the Remove button displayed but it was not always aligned with the associated gift card line. To eliminate any confusion that could result from this, we have corrected the alignment issue so the button now displays in line with the associated gift card line on the ticket.
HRTL-10610 Fixed Issue Adding Tags to Items for E-Commerce Integration
In previous versions, merchants were unable to add values to the Tags field for some items. We have corrected this with this release, and merchants can now add and edit item tags as expected.
HRTL-10661 Fixed Mishandling of ‘Duplicate’ Function for Items
In previous versions, if you created a duplicate of an item using the Duplicate button, the POS would erroneously assign the new item the same sort key as the original item. This resulted in item lists being missorted. With this release, the POS handles such requests correctly and assigns a unique sort key to the newly created item as expected.
HRTL-10715 Fixed Issue with Item Group Custom Field Display in Purchase Order
In previous versions, if you created an item group custom field and then enabled the Display on item list setting, the custom field information did not display on the item list in Purchase Orders. With this release, the custom field information displays as expected.
