Some exciting news: As part of our mission to power omnichannel integrations, Heartland Retail is happy to announce that we have partnered with Best Worlds - a Klaviyo Gold Partner and Certified Klaviyo Systems Integrator - to offer an integration service with Klaviyo, making it easier than ever to turn your in-store relationships into digital ones. The service not only supports the migration of historical tickets and customer data from your Heartland POS, but it also provides frequent synchronization of new tickets and customers into Klaviyo. As well, it supports custom data mapping, coupon code generation for in-store redemption of codes sent by email, and additional support for advanced automation and segmentation use cases. What’s New
The following release notes detail the enhancements we have included in this release.
HRTL-10453 Add Percentage Off of Single Item to Coupon Actions
With this release, we have added a ‘Get [x]% off a single item’ option to the Actions dropdown menu in Coupons. When you select this action for an existing coupon, the POS displays an edit field with the following options:
- Enter desired percentage in the Get box.
- Item: Select Highest Priced or Lowest Price.
- Price: Select Current Price, Original Price, or Ticket Current Price.
In our example, the coupon will take 50% off of the highest priced item on the ticket, with the percentage based on that item’s current price.
HRTL-10522 Disable Beep After Manually Entered Unrecognized Barcode
In previous versions, the POS beeped after it received an unrecognized barcode entry, whether via scan or manual entry. For a better user experience, the POS will no longer beep after an unrecognized barcode entered manually. Instead, it will beep only when an unrecognized barcode is scanned.
HRTL-10537 Implement Customer Opt-In Fields for Email and Text
So that customers can exercise control over whether and how they receive information from merchants, and so that merchants can easily see which customers are interested in receiving promotional communications, we have added two new checkboxes to the Customer page:
- Opt in in to receive promotional emails
- Opt in to receive promotional texts
These checkboxes display consistently on all customer page views, whether creating a new customer or editing an existing customer, both in the POS and the back office.

Implement Enhanced Modals in POS for Consistency
With this release, for a more consistent and friendlier user POS experience, we introduce enhancements to several modals. These changes include more prominent text formatting for key information such as the modal title and, if relevant, dollar amounts. As well, components and text are arranged in a manner to facilitate quick understanding and resolution.
These changes are true for the following modals:
- Confirm Payment Status
- Unresolved Payment
- Payment Reconciliation
Below, we include examples of each:
HRTL-11071 Implement Modal for Missing Receipt Printer Selection
To help merchants understand and address the issue when trying to save settings or send a print request to a receipt printer, the POS will now display an alert modal.
With the information provided, merchants can quickly remedy the situation by making an appropriate selection.
HRTL-11248 Add Monetary Formatting to Freight Cost Field in Receipts
For consistency and clarity, we have added automatic formatting to the Freight Cost field in PO Receipts. Specifically, the field now displays a dollar sign ($) and any values entered therein will automatically be converted into standard monetary format. As well, we have updated the way figures are reflected in the Total Cost field so that, like the items that comprise it (item cost, unauthorized items, and freight), the item total also displays in parenthesis.
Updates
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
HRTL-10730 Fixed Flashing Issue When Accessing Ticket Page
In previous versions, when accessing a ticket from the Tickets page, the items included in the Lines tab would flash upon displaying. With this release, the Lines tab contents display as expected without flashing.
HRTL-10852 Fixed Conflicting Events in QuickBooks Online
In previous versions, some merchants encountered issues when syncing events to QuickBooks Online (QBO). In these instances, the POS had generated erroneous and conflicting events that produced errors during sync attempts. We have addressed the root cause of this behavior so the POS no longer generates these invalid events, meaning merchants can sync to QBO without incident.
HRTL-10884 Fixed ‘Quick Actions’ Displaying Behind ‘Button Groups’
In previous versions, in some operating systems, if you opened Button Groups and then attempted to open Quick Actions, the POS would display the Quick Actions behind Button Groups which prevented users from accessing the buttons. With this release, in such instances, the Quick Actions display in front of the Button Groups as expected.
HRTL-10885 Fixed ‘Auto Print Receipts’ Toggle Format
In previous versions, some systems displayed the Auto Print Receipts toggle in POS settings in an unusually large format. We have corrected this so the toggle now displays in a normal size, consistent with other toggles throughout the POS.
HRTL-11204 Consistent Placement of Reload All Devices Button
In previous versions, the Reload All Devices button placement would change so that it would sometimes display in the bottom right corner and other times in the bottom left. For a better user experience, the button will display in the bottom right corner consistently.
HRTL-11235 Fixed Add-On Item Line Alignment on Completed Ticket
In previous versions, add-on items on completed tickets were misaligned with other items on the ticket, and they remained clickable. With this release, such items, now denoted with an arrow icon, are aligned with other items on the ticket.
As well, add-on items are no longer clickable upon completion of the ticket.
HRTL-11252 Update Setting Name to ‘Enable Low Inventory Alerts’
To better reflect the purpose of the setting that determines whether or not the POS displays alerts related to low inventory levels, we have renamed the Enable notification for when an entered item has 0 inventory setting. It is now called Enable Low Inventory Alerts.
HRTL-11267 Fixed Issue with Prompt for Item Price and Description
We have fixed an issue that sometimes prevented users from saving entries for price and description for items configured to prompt for such values. This occurred when, instead of using the Save button on the screen, they used the enter key on their keyboard. In these instances, the POS would not save the values, nor would it add the item in question to the ticket or sales order. With this release, the POS now supports the use of the enter key on the keyboard for such entries.
HRTL-11400 Fixed EasyPost Transfers Shipping Label PDF Print Issue
In previous versions, merchants were sometimes unable to use the Create PDF sheet print option for transfer shipping labels using the EasyPost integration. In these instances, instead of producing the expected PDF, the POS displayed an error indicating that label destination is required. With this release, the POS produces the PDF as expected.
HRTL-11417 Fixed PAX Communication & Processing Issues with HRC
After upgrading to Heartland Retail Connect version 2024.04.020, some merchants using PAX devices for card processing were unable to process transactions. Troubleshooting revealed that the PAX and the POS system had lost communication and steps to restore had no effect. With this release, the communication between the POS and the PAX devices is restored and payments process as expected.
