What’s New
The following release notes detail the enhancements we have included in this release.
HRTL-10155 Display Alert When Adding Unavailable Quantity to Ticket
This release introduces an alert that displays if you attempt to add more of the available stock of any given item to a ticket or sales order.
This alert is strictly informational and will not prevent you from adding such items to the ticket or sales order.
HRTL-10817 Remove ‘Remove Coupon’ Button During Referenced Returns
The POS will no longer display the Remove Coupon button when processing a return from a linked ticket using Referenced Returns. Since coupons originate from the original ticket and therefore cannot be removed, the button serves no purpose in the context of Referenced Returns. As demonstrated in the images below, the Remove Coupon button initially displays for a return including a discounted item but, once linked to a sales ticket, it no longer displays.
These changes are meant to give users a better experience, including more clarity and improved functionality of coupon handling during the return process.
HRTL-11638 Implement Free Item Price Limit in Coupons & Promotions
So that merchants have more control over which items can be included in coupons and promotions that result in an item being free, such as buy-one-get-one, we have added a Set price limit for free item checkbox to coupon and promotion setup. When you check this box, a textbox formatted for currency will activate for you to enter the maximum price allowed.
- When items are already present in the transaction, if you attempt to apply a coupon or promotion, the POS will validate the coupon/promotion. If the item that qualifies as free exceeds the maximum allowed price, it will not apply the coupon/promotion and will display an error toast message. For example, ‘Cannot apply coupon because the price of the free item exceeds the coupon’s maximum allowed price.’
- If a coupon or promotion is applied to a transaction before adding items, once two or more items are present, the POS will validate the coupon/promotion. If the free item price exceeds the maximum allowed price, the POS will remove the coupon/promotion and will display a toast message to that effect. For example, ‘Coupon invalidated due to added item’s price exceeding the coupon's maximum allowed price.’
HRTL-11700 Include NPA in Retail POS App Code
To ensure compatibility between the NPA and the Retail POS app versions, the POS app code now includes code for the NPA. This means that, after each release, all customers who receive the new version of Retail POS will automatically begin processing payments using the updated version of NPA without having to clear the browser cache. This update is effective for the following devices:
- Pax A35
- HPA Verifone device
- CFD Reader
- ELO Device
- Windows 10 device
- MacBook Pro
HRTL-12211 Payment Modal Enhancements
We are excited to share that the Payment Modal is getting a face lift! As part of this release, all screens within the payment modal now have consistent sizing and a new, top-to-bottom workflow. This gives merchants increased ease of use which, in turn, results in faster transaction speed at the register. Below are screenshots and additional information.
Cash Payment:
To reduce the need for manually entering cash payment amounts, we have added cash payment buttons for common denominations to the modal that displays when you initiate a cash payment. Along with these buttons, the newly formatted modal now includes an Exact Amount button. This option is available to merchants using the Quick Cash Buttons feature, and it allows users to apply a payment equal to the balance due in one touch instead of having to manually input the amount.
As well, we have shifted the components of the cash payment screen to align with those of other payment screens. Specifically, The Balance Due amount has been moved to the top of the screen with the amount field just below. The Add Payment has been moved to the bottom of the screen.

HRTL-12348 Include Add-On Items on HPA CFD
To ensure that customers can easily see all items for which they are being charged, the customer-facing display on the Heartland Pay App Verifone device now lists all add-on items along with the items they are associated with.
HRTL-12349 Include Add-On Items on PAX A920 CFD
To ensure that customers can easily see all items for which they are being charged, the customer-facing display on the PAX A920 device now lists all add-on items along with the items they are associated with.
Updates
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
HRTL-10758 Fixed ‘New Receipt’ Field Status and Errors
In previous versions, when adding a new receipt under the purchasing, if you left required fields empty, the resulting notifications were unclear. We have updated the behavior so that, if you leave a required field empty, upon saving, the page will outline the field in red and display a message below it reading ‘Field cannot be empty.’ As well, a red message box will display indicating a failure to save due to an error on the page.
HRTL-12106 Fixed Validation of Required Custom Payment Field
In earlier versions, if you created a custom payment with a required field and then applied the custom payment to a ticket in the POS but left the required field blank, the POS did not apply the payment, but it failed to notify the user of the issue. With this release, in such scenarios, the POS will display an error message informing the user that the field is required and will validate whatever data is input into the field before applying the payment.
HRTL-12133 Fixed Looping Issue When Installing Heartland App from BigCommerce Control Panel
We have fixed a redirect issue that prevented users from successfully installing the Heartland app from the BigCommerce Control Panel. Attempts to do so resulted in an endless loop of pages loading. With this release, users are able to install the app as expected.
HRTL-12369 Fixed 943 Area Code Issue
In previous versions, users were unable to save phone numbers with area code 943. Attempts to do so resulted in failed validation and a message that the phone number was not valid. We have corrected this, and users can now save phone numbers with the 943 area code as expected.
HRTL-12472 Fixed Internal Error When Acknowledging Count Discrepancies
In earlier versions, merchants with Require acknowledgment of discrepant counts enabled encountered an ‘internal server error’ after selecting Acknowledge on the count discrepancy prompt. While this error did not prevent the count from processing, it created unnecessary confusion. With this release, the system handles such input as expected and without error.
HRTL-12484 Fixed ‘Send Email Receipt’ Issue
In previous versions, users were sometimes unable to send receipts via email. In these instances, after selecting the Send Email Receipt button, the POS would display a system error indicating that it was unable to email the receipt. With this release, the Send Email Receipt option performs as expected and without error.
HRTL-12529 Fixed Clover Connectivity Issue
In previous versions, merchants processing via Clover sometimes lost their connection to Clover and had to delete the processor and add it back in order to resume processing. This was due to an issue with refreshing Clover tokens. This release addresses the underlying issue and merchants processing via Clover stay consistently connected as expected.
