Merchants using the NextGen Bundle with the CFD + Heartland Reader can be configured to support manual entry transactions.
Please note: When processing transactions with customer and card present, merchants should utilize manual entry only as a last resort when other means of processing (i.e., tap/insert/swipe) have failed, whether due to a device failure or an issue with the card itself. Manual entry should never be the primary means of processing credit card transactions.
Use the checklist below to make sure you have everything needed to process this type of transaction.
✅ NextGen POS device (Android Elo)
✅ Heartland Reader CFD plugged into the back of the NextGen POS device
✅ In the back office, go to Settings, select Credit Cards, select location, and either add or edit
the Heartland payment gateway
✅ Confirm you have the 5-part credentials setup on the top of half of the page
✅ And confirm you have Secure Submit credentials on the lower half of the page
✅ Go to Roles, select the role allowed to process this type of transaction, locate the
Manual credit card entry setting and toggle it On
At the station that will be used to process these transactions:
✅ Open the POS, select the hamburger menu, select Settings, and Reload All Devices
✅ In the Payment Device drop down list, select the Heartland Reader
🎉 Congratulations!! 🎉
You are now ready to process manual entry transactions.
The next time you process a credit card transaction, the Payment Mode drop down list will include the Manual Entry option.
