What’s New
The following release notes detail the enhancements we have included in this release.
HRTL-11201 Include New Units of Measure in Item Imports
To facilitate the configuration of inventory items using the recently implemented additional units of measure, we now include these units of measure in item imports.
Available units of measure are:
- Weight: ounces (default), pounds, grams, and kilograms
- Width, height, and depth: inches (default), feet, yards, centimeters, and meters
The inclusion of these additional units of measure allows merchants to quickly update items in bulk instead of on an individual basis.
Please note:
- The system accepts both full and abbreviated forms of these units (for example, it accepts ‘centimeters’ and ‘cm’).
- Measurement fields are not required.
HRTL-12553 Remove ‘Switch to Return’ from Dropdown in Referenced Return
For merchants enforcing referenced returns, the POS now hides the Switch to Return option from the dropdown for line items on sale tickets and return tickets with memo. The option will continue to display for merchants not enforcing referenced returns.
This behavior is dictated by the status of the Restrict returns to parent transaction toggle.
- When enabled, Switch to Return is hidden.
- When disabled, Switch to Return displays.
HRTL-12766 Reformat Device Communication Error Banners
For a friendlier user experience, we have reformatted the banner that appears when the system loses connectivity to a previously mapped PAX or HPA device so that it is consistent with those in other areas of the POS system.
HRTL-12902 Reformat ‘Duplicate Transaction’ Warning Modal
To further our goal toward consistency across the Retail app, we have updated the format of the Duplicate Transaction modal to match those in other areas of the system.
This change affects the following payment integrations:
- PAX
- Heartland Reader
- DataCap
The new modal will display in the same manner across all devices and platforms, including:
- iOS
- Web
- Android
HRTL-13129 Reintroduce Layaway Deposit Refund via PAX
This release allows merchants to easily refund layaway deposits paid by credit card via a PAX device. Upon selecting the Refund button in the Deposits section of the screen, the POS sends the refund request to the PAX device using the original transactions reference number and the PAX automatically processes a return to the card without requiring re-entry (tap, insert, swipe, or manual) of the card information.
If you have automatic receipt printing enabled, a credit slip for the refund will print. Otherwise, if you wish to print a receipt, you can do so by selecting the Receipt button at the bottom of the page.
HRTL-13167 Allow Negative Value for Item Line Price Change
To provide merchants with greater control and flexibility when selling items, this release introduces the ability to enter a negative value when editing the price of a line item on a POS ticket. As was previously the case, you can also assign zero and positive values to prices.
HRTL-13191 Implement Improved eConduit Experience
This release provides a better user experience with regard to the eConduit integration.
- The eConduit iframe will no longer be rendered in the background when the POS settings modal is opened.
- The eConduit iframe is now displayed only when the user selects the Pair an eConduit terminal option.
- The eConduit pairing iframe will now appear correctly, even if a different device was previously selected.
With these changes, the eConduit pairing functionality should now work as expected. As well, eConduit credentials will no longer be overwritten after completing a payment, and consecutive payment attempts will no longer show an ‘Invalid login credentials’ error.
HRTL-13202 Add ‘Manually Add Device’ Option to Web Platform & Remove DataCap Driver for Manually Added Devices
With this release, we have added the Manually Add New Device option to the web platform of Heartland Retail for Windows and Mac operating systems.
As well, to better support merchants processing with DataCap, in light of device configuration requirements that are difficult to manually enter, we have removed DataCap from the Driver dropdown of the Payment Device section of the Manually Add Device modal. This change affects iOS and web platforms.
HRTL-13207 Modernize Daily Summary Components
For a more user-friendly and consistent experience, we have updated various components of the Daily Summary screen so that they are both more modern, and more in line with those in other areas of the POS. These updated components include:
- Date selector
- Location dropdown
- Station dropdown
- Notes text field format and Delete option
Additionally, all dropdown components associated with reason codes have been updated across the system.
HRTL-13362 Implement Universal Confirmation Modals
With this release, we implement universal confirmation prompt modals throughout the system. Confirmation modals will always contain two options, one to continue with the initiated action, and the other to cancel. Depending on the action initiated, you will encounter one of two variations of the modal.
For actions with low risk, such as signing out of the POS, the modal will display as pictured here:
For actions with greater risk, such as transferring an inventory request, the modal will display as pictured here:
Updates
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
HRTL-12263 Fix Amount Due Issue When Applying Payments
In previous versions, if you applied a partial gift card, check, or custom payment to a ticket or sales order, or if you applied a check or custom payment in excess of the total due, the box displaying the remaining balance would momentarily display the wrong amount before updating to the actual amount due. In these cases, the first amount displayed did not take into account the payment that had just been applied. For example, if you applied a $10.00 gift card payment to a ticket with a remaining balance of $82.33, the amount due would momentarily display as $82.33 before updating to the correct amount of $72.33. With this release, the amount displays correctly immediately upon applying the payment as intended.
HRTL-13221 Fix Grid Modal User Interface Issues
In recent releases, we discovered some minor visual defects in the Grids modal. This release addresses these issues and the modal once again displays as intended.
HRTL-13226 Fix Issue Adding UPS as Shipping Carrier
In previous versions, some merchants were unable to add UPS as a new carrier in their POS shipping settings. When they attempted to do so, the operation failed and the POS displayed an error indicating that it had’ Failed to create carrier.’ With this release, merchants can add new shipping carriers as expected.
HRTL-13227 Fix Spontaneous Duplication of Items and Tickets
In previous versions, some merchants encountered instances of items being spontaneously duplicated on tickets, and with tickets being spontaneously generated as duplicates of existing closed tickets and received transfers. With this release, this no longer occurs, and the POS behaves as expected.
HRTL-13363 Restore Purchase Order Allocation PDF Export Option
In previous versions of the POS, merchants with the Purchase Order Allocation feature flag enabled found that their PDF export options had changed so the only available PDF export was PDF without allocation (the option to export to PDF with allocation was missing). This release addresses the issue for Mac and Windows systems, and both PDF export options are again available.
HRTL-13373 Fix Item Cost/Price Issue After Grid Level Change
In previous versions, if you updated the Default Cost and/or Current Price on a grid level, after saving the changes, these values were not reflected at the item level. With this release, these changes are saved and correctly reflected at the item level as expected.
HRTL-13379 Fix BigCommerce Push Sync Issue
In previous versions, if you attempted to push an item to BigCommerce without checking the box to make the items visible on your website, the POS would display a toast message reading, 'Something went wrong while starting push sync. Please try again later.’ If you checked the visible on website box, the push would process without error.
With this release, push syncs process as expected, regardless of whether the visible on website box is checked.
HRTL-13429 Fix Import Issue for Items with Multiple Images
In previous versions, if you performed an import that contained items with more than one image, only the primary image for any given item would import. With this release, all images import as intended.
