Overview
This quick reference guide details the installation and configuration of the Epson TM-M30iii thermal receipt printer for a broad range of uses in Heartland Retail, including:
- Full print functionality, as well as receipt templates, logos, and header/footer capabilities
- Ability to send cash drawer commands through the printer to open the connected cash drawer
The Epson TM-M30iii thermal receipt printer is designed for Plug-&-Play (PnP) printing with the Heartland Retail POS and is supported for use on all platforms as indicated below:
- NextGen (Android Elo)
- iOS
- Windows
- MacOS
Android Elo, Windows, and MacOS systems seamlessly identify the Epson TM-M30iii thermal receipt printers connected via USB or LAN without requiring manual driver installations.
iOS systems seamlessly identify the Epson TM-M30iii via LAN connection.
Requirements
To use the Epson TM-M30iii thermal receipt printer, the following must be true:
- You must be using Heartland Retail version 2024.08.070 or later.
- Windows and MacOS users must also be using Heartland Retail Connect version 2024.08.070 or later.
Printer Connection
To get started, connect your Epson TM-M30iii printer cables as described in the steps and images below:
- Turn the printer upside-down.
- Remove the tab as indicated in the image below.
- Remove the back and bottom panels.
- Connect the AC adapter to the 24V port.
- While the ports are accessible, connect the USB or Ethernet cable, depending on your setup, before replacing the panels.
- Replace the panels as shown.
- Connect the printer to a power source.
USB Connection
If using a USB connection, simply connect your Epson printer to an available USB port on your workstation. The POS will automatically detect the printer and include it in the Receipt Printer dropdown menu of the Settings screen. The printer will be reflected as its manufacturer and model number so, in this case, as ‘Epson TM-M30iii’.
LAN Connection
If using a LAN connection, simply connect your Epson printer to an available port on your router and verify that your POS workstation is connected to the same network. The POS will automatically detect the printer and include it in the Receipt Printer dropdown menu of the Settings screen.
To ensure that merchants can easily identify and select the correct Epson device when printing receipts, the POS designates printers connected via LAN with their current IP address in the dropdown; for example, ‘Epson Printer 192.168.0.111’.
Heartand POS Configuration
- On Heartland POS tenant, go to Point of Sale.
- Access menu on top left corner and select Settings.
- Reload devices. The Epson printer should now be listed on Receipt Printer dropdown.
- Select the printer.
- Select Print Test Receipt to test printer.
