What’s New?
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
GNX-336 Heartland Restaurant Supports QSRA ConnectSmart Kitchen
Heartland Restaurant now supports the QSRA ConnectSmart Kitchen solution for managing kitchen communication and workflow.
GNX-414 NextGen and Mobile POS Displays All Discounts as Options, Regardless of Permission Level
We have modified the NextGen and Mobile 2.0 POS apps to display all discounts as options in the Discounts panel, even if the staff member accessing them does not have permission to apply them. In previous versions, the POS only displayed discounts that the staff member had permission to add to a ticket, but hid the ones that required a higher permission level.
In the V1 POS, the app displays all discounts as options in the Discounts panel, even if the current user does not have permission to apply them. If the staff member selects a discount requiring a higher permission level, the POS prompts them to get a manager’s approval. This allows servers to select an appropriate discount for a ticket, even if it requires a manager to approve it. Therefore, we have modified the NextGen and Mobile 2.0 POS apps to display all discounts as options, and to prompt for a manager’s approval when a server selects a discount requiring a higher permission level.
GNX-415 Visual Notification Added to Discounts and Charges/Service Fees Screens
In the Mobile 2.0 POS, we have added a visual notification to the Discounts and Charges/Service Fees screens. In either of these screens, when you add a discount or a charge to a ticket, the POS now displays a green notification (Added!) at the bottom of the screen to verify at the discount or charge was added successfully.
GNX-503 Tab Comments Now Display in Split Ticket Screen
In the NextGen POS, we have modified the layout of the Split Ticket screen. In the screen, if you add a comment to a split tab, the app will display the full text of the comment below the title of the tab. The app only displays the comments when a staff member edits a comment for a tab. When displaying the tab list (in the right-hand panel), the POS will display the first line of each tab’s comments below each tab’s title.
GNX-603 NextGen POS Supports Auto-Filled Tip Amounts for Tip Outs from Pools
When performing a tip out to a server from a tip pool, the POS now automatically fills in a suggested amount for the tip. The POS calculates this amount by multiplying the tip pool’s remaining total by the percentage set in the tip out type’s settings (as defined in the Tip Out Type screen).
For a more details on configuring tip out types and performing tip outs, please review our “Tip Out Configuration and Usage Guide”.
GNX-606 NextGen POS Supports “Affect Modifier” Setting for Item Level Discounts
The NextGen POS now supports the Affect Modifier setting for discounts. In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Menu, then click Discounts/Promotions. In the Discounts/Promotions screen, select an existing discount. In the discount's Settings screen, if you select the Affect Modifiers check box, the POS will apply the discount to the total price of the applicable menu item, including its modifier ingredients and context item prices. If you clear this check box, the POS will only apply the discount to a menu item’s base price (or size price), but not the prices of any modifier ingredients or context items.
GNX-849 NextGen POS Supports ‘Hide on Receipt’ Feature for Menu Items
The NextGen POS now supports the Hide on Receipt setting for Menu Items. In previous versions, the POS may have included menu items on customer receipts that were set to be hidden. In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Menu, then click Items. In the Items screen, click an existing menu item. In the item’s Settings screen, if you select the Hide on Receipt check box, the POS will not display the item’s name or price on any customer receipts. The POS will only hide menu items with a price of $0.00. However, in previous versions, the POS may have included menu items on the receipt, even if they were set to be hidden. We have corrected this, and the POS no longer displays menu items (with a price of $0.00) on customer receipts if the Hide on Receipt check box is enabled in their settings.
GNX-850 Reports Include Ticket Owners and Other Details for Cash Transactions
We have modified the Server Checkout and Cash Drawer Reports to include more detailed information about tickets paid with cash:
- If the report includes a ticket from which the server received cash, but was owned by a different server, the program will include the name of the owner in the ticket’s details, formatted as “Owner: J. Smith”.
- If the report includes a ticket that the server owned, but from which cash was given to another server, the program will include the name of the server who received the money in the ticket’s details, formatted as “Tender: J. Smith”.
- If the report includes a ticket with a cash payment that was authorized by a manager, the program will include the name of the manager in the ticket’s details, formatted as “(Mgr Auth): S. Johnson”.
- If the report includes a ticket with a voided cash payment that was authorized by a manager, the program will include the name of the manager in the ticket’s details, formatted as “(Mgr Void): S. Johnson”.
We have added these details to the Server Checkout, Cash Drawer, and Daily Review Reports.
GNX-851 Modifying Tip Amount After Signature Capture
In the NextGen and Mobile 2.0 POS, we have added the ability to modify the tip amount in a credit card transaction after providing a signature. In the POS, if your location has enabled the Signature Capture feature, the POS prompts customers to enter a tip amount after paying the ticket total, then it prompts them to enter a signature on the CFD. After entering a signature, the customer can now modify the tip amount by tapping the Sign button again. The POS will access the Tip screen again, where the customer can enter a new tip amount.
Updates
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
GNX-558 POS Prints Lengthy Special Instructions in Kitchen Slips Properly
In previous versions, the NextGen POS may have printed the special descriptions of menu items improperly on its kitchen slips. For instance, if you added an unusually long special description to a menu item and then sent the ticket to the prep printer, the POS may have applied line rack improperly Tamil resulting in some words appearing cut off or awkwardly split between two lines. We have corrected this, and the POS now prints long special descriptions properly on its kitchen slips.
GNX-560 POS No Longer Reinserts Miscellaneous Item’s Names
In previous versions of the NextGen POS, you may have been unable to clear the name of miscellaneous items on tickets. For instance, you may have opened a ticket and added a miscellaneous item. When adding the item to a ticket, the POS uses its default name. However, if you then tried to edit the miscellaneous item by deleting its name, the POS may have reinserted its default name. In effect, the POS did not allow you to clear the item’s name. We have corrected this, and now when you clear a miscellaneous item’s name, the POS does not reinsert its default name.
GNX-831 POS No Longer Duplicates Auto Gratuities When Reprinting Tickets
In previous versions, if your location uses automatic gratuities, the POS may have appeared to duplicate automatic gratuities each time you reprinted a ticket. For instance, you may have reopened a ticket that included an automatic gratuity. If you added more items to the ticket, then sent them to their prep printers, then reprinted the ticket, the POS may have appeared to add the automatic gratuity to the ticket a second time. Actually, the POS only displayed the duplicated automatic gratuity in the Ticket screen; it did not actually add it to the ticket’s ultimate total. We have corrected this, and now when you reprint a ticket that includes an auto gratuity, the POS does not display a duplicate auto gratuity in its Ticket screen.
GNX-1047 NextGen POS No Loner Deletes Orders with Default Ingredients from Order History
In previous versions, the NextGen POS may have failed to display the order histories of certain customers. For example, you may have opened a ticket for a returning customer and entered the customer’s phone number in the Info screen. If you then tried to review the customer’s order history, the POS may not have displayed it. In such cases, the customer’s previous orders were improperly deleted from the location’s files. This problem only occurred at locations that use default ingredients. In certain circumstances, if a customer ordered a menu item that included a default ingredient, then paid the ticket that included that item, the POS may have cleared that order from the customer’s order history. Consequently, if you tried to review the customer’s order history later, the POS would not have any record of the cleared order. We have corrected this, and the POS no longer deletes the history of orders that include default ingredients.
GNX-1282 NextGen POS with Verifone Authorizes Transactions for Unusually Large Amounts
In previous versions, if your location uses the NextGen POS with Verifone devices (instead of the CFD), you may have encountered a problem. In certain circumstances, if you attempted to authorize a credit card transaction with an unusually large (over $1000), the app may have failed to approve or decline the transaction. Instead, it may have displayed an error message (“Payment failed with error code ERR010 error message:[baseAmount:2,502.50]-INVALID TYPE”). We have corrected this, and now when you authorize credit card transaction for a large amount, the POS will process it properly and receive either an approval or declination.
