What’s New?
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
GNX-230 NextGen POS for iOS
The NextGen POS is now available for iOS devices, and you can download it now from the Apple App store as “Heartland Restaurant”. On iOS devices, Heartland Restaurant currently supports Verifone's T650C and T650P payment devices.
GNX-1133 “$” and “&” Options Added to Discounts Keypad
In the NextGen POS, we have added the $ and % buttons to the keypad for ticket-level discounts. In the POS, if you want to apply a percentage discount to a ticket, tap %, then enter the percentage amount. If you want to enter a specific dollar amount, tap $, then enter the dollar amount. In previous versions, the keypad for item discounts included these options, but not the keypad for ticket-level discounts.
GNX-2279 Card Reader Initialization Status Panel Added to POS
Normally, after confirming its permissions, the Card Reader requires several minutes to initialize before it can receive and process a payment. However, previous versions of the POS included nothing to alert users when the initialization process was complete and the device was ready to use. To rectify this, we have added a status panel to inform staff when the Card Reader is still initiating.
Now, if you swipe a card on a Card Reader while it is still initializing, the device displays a panel describing its status and urging users to wait until it’s ready.
You can tap Cancel to close the panel and return to the Checkout screen.
If you swipe a card after the Card Reader is initialized and ready, it will read the card and begin processing the payment.
GNX-2558 POS Now Includes Tippable Fees When Calculating Service Charges
In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Menu, then click Service Charges/Fees. In the Service Charges/Fees screen, an existing service charge or fee. In the Settings panel, you can define a new record as a service charge (instead of a fee) by selecting the Service Charge check box. You can also designate a service charge as “tippable” by selecting the Tippable check box.
We have modified the POS to include the amounts of any tippable fees when calculating a ticket’s total service charges. If a ticket includes a tippable service charge, it will not influence the amount of any other service charges.
Updates
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
GNX-980 NextGen POS Autofills Address Information Properly in Customer Info Screen
In previous versions, the NextGen POS may have automatically filled in customer addresses improperly in the Info screen. Normally, if you access the Info screen and begin entering a street address in the Address box, the POS may display an option to automatically fill in the remaining address information in the relevant boxes (Address, City, State, and so on). However, in a previous version, if you selected an “autofill” address option, the POS may have inserted the street address in the Company box. We have corrected this, and now when the POS automatically fills in address information in the Info screen, it inserts the information in the proper boxes.
GNX-1076 POS Applies Delivery Fees to Delivery Tickets Properly
In previous versions, if your location offers delivery service with delivery fees (associated with select delivery zones), you may have encountered a problem. When entering an address for a delivery order, if the address was within a zone associated with a delivery fee, the POS may not have added the fee to the ticket. We have corrected this, and now when you enter a delivery address that is within a zone associated with a delivery fee, the POS adds the fee to the ticket properly.
GNX-1507 POS Prints Orders Removed from KDS with Proper Spacing
If your location is configured to print orders when you remove them from the KDS, the app may have printed kitchen slips with large unnecessary space between the listed menu items. This problem only occurred at locations with the following configuration:
- A NextGen POS on an ELO device running as the location’s dedicated socket server.
- An iOS device running the KDS.
- The KDS configured to print orders when they are removed from the KDS.
We have corrected this, and now when you remove an order from the KDS, the POS now prints its kitchen slips with proper spacing between menu items.
GNX-2632 Wait List Now Fits Mobile 2.0 Device Screen
In previous versions, if your location uses the Mobile 2.0 POS to manage the wait list, you may have encountered a problem. When adding a customer to the wait list using the Mobile 2.0 POS, when you tapped the Person button, the pop-up panel for adding persons may have been too wide for the device’s screen. To correct this, we have resized the pop up panel for adding customers to the wait list.
GNX-2830 Automatic Tip Pooling Functions for Salaried Staff Members
In previous versions, if your location uses tip pools, you may have encountered a problem. Specifically, if your location uses the automatic tip outs, the POS may not have automatically added tips into a tip pool for staff members with salaries. In the Tip Out Types screen, if you select Automatic in the Type list, the POS will automatically transfer tip outs into a tip pool when a staff member performs a checkout. However, in previous versions, if the staff member performing the checkout was salaried, the POS may not have automatically transferred their tip outs into the tip pool. We have corrected this, and now when a staff member who earns a salary performs a check out, the POS automatically transfers their tip outs into the tip pool.
GNX-2833 Larger Label Text in NextGen for iOS
In NextGen for iOS, we have increased the size of the text used in various labels throughout the POS, particularly in labels for menu item buttons. The adjusted text size makes the labels easier to read, and generally make the interface in NextGen for iOS more consistent with the V1 POS.
GNX-2862 Menu Item and Ingredient Buttons No Longer Flash When Tapped and Scrolled
In previous versions, if you tried to tap and scroll menu items in the NextGen POS Order screens, the item’s button may have flashed in a different color. Similarly, if you selected a menu item with modifiers and then tried to tap and scroll its ingredients, those buttons may have also flashed in a different color. We have corrected this, and menu item and ingredient buttons no longer flash in other colors when you tap and scroll them.
