What’s New?
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
GNX-2890 NextGen POS for iOS Now Supports PAX Devices
You can now run NextGen POS on iOS devices using PAX payment devices. At this time, NextGen POS on iOS supports the following payment devices:
- A920
- A35
- S300
- S920
GNX-2479 NextGen POS Displays Ticket Preview on CFD
We have modified the POS to display the Ticket Preview on the CFD, even when it is not connected to a payment device. In previous versions, the POS only displayed ticket previews on the CFD if it was connected to a Heartland Card Reader or configured to use a Verifone device. The POS now displays the Ticket Preview screen (including tip options, signature capture, and receipt options, when appropriate) on the CFD, even if it has no Moby or Verifone device.
GNX-2746 NextGen POS Support for Assorted QSR Functions
The NextGen and Mobile 2.0 POS apps now support various features for QSR integrations.
The NextGen and Mobile 2.0 POS apps now supports the Inline Context Items feature. In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Location Setup, then click Settings. In the Location Settings screen, click the App Settings tab. In the App Settings tab, the Inline Context Items check box enables you to modify how context items are displayed in POS and QSR displays. If you select the Inline Context Items check box, the POS displays context items above their associated ingredient items. If you clear the check box, context items will be displayed under their associated ingredient items.
The NextGen and Mobile 2.0 POS apps also now support the Ingredients as side items feature for QSR integrations. In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Integrations. In the Integrations screen, click New Integrations, then select QSR in the Integration Type list. In the QSR integration settings, if you select the Ingredients as side items check box, the POS will synchronize ingredients as side items, rather than food items, in the location’s QSR data. If you clear this check box, the POS will synchronize ingredients as food items in the location’s QSR data.
Also in the QSR integration settings, you can now configure the location to send QSR requests to a primary and secondary kitchen server. In the Primary Kitchen Server IP Address box, enter the IP address for the primary kitchen server. In the Secondary Kitchen Server IP Address box, enter the IP address for a backup kitchen server. A QSR request is considered successfully delivered if either server receives it.
GNX-2897 New Labels for Cash Discount Totals on Receipt Layouts
On locations using cash discounts, we have made the following changes to POS receipt layouts:
- The POS labels totals that include only cash payments as “Total (Cash)”.
- The POS labels totals that include only non-cash payments as “Total”.
- The POS labels totals at include both cash and non-cash payments as “Total”.
- The POS prints totals that include no payments twice, both with identical amounts, labeled as “Total (Cash)” and “Total (Non-Cash)”.
- For a ticket partially paid with a cash payment, the POS prints its totals as “Total (Cash)” and “Total (Non-Cash)”
- For a ticket partially paid with a non-cash payment, the POS prints its total as “Not eligible for CD → Total”.
- For a ticket partially paid with a credit-eligible tender, the POS prints its totals as “Total (Cash)” and “Total (Non-Cash)”.
- If the Amount Due is “$0.00”, the POS prints one line labeled “Total”.
GNX-3205 NextGen and Mobile 2.0 POS Support for Attributes Filter
In the NextGen and Mobile 2.0 POS apps, you can now filter menu items in the Ticket screen by attribute. In the Mobile 2.0 POS Ticket screen, if you tap the View button, the POS now opens a panel displaying sections for Menu Card Size and Attributes.
The Menu Card Size section includes options that enable you to modify the size and layout of the menu item buttons displayed in the screen. The Attributes section displays a list of all attributes from the menu items in the current menu. Each attribute in the list includes a check box. If you select one or more attributes in this list, the POS will only display menu items associated with one of your selected attributes. If you tap Clear, the POS will clear all selected attributes.
In the NextGen POS Ticket screen, if you tap , the POS opens a panel displaying the Attributes options without the Menu Card Size section.
Updates
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
GNX-3206 Staff with “All Adjustments” Permissions Can Remove Auto-Adjustments from Tickets
In previous versions of the NextGen POS, you may have been unable to remove an auto-adjustment from a ticket, even if you had permission to do so. In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Location Setup, then click Permissions. In the Permissions screen, select an existing permission set. In the Settings panel, if you select the All Adjustments check box, servers with this permission set can remove any adjustment from a ticket. In the Settings panel, if you select specific adjustments under Allowed Adjustments, servers with this permission set can remove those specific adjustments from a ticket.
However, in previous versions, if you tried to remove an auto-adjustment from a ticket, the POS may have requested a manager’s PIN, even if you had permission to remove adjustments. In such cases, the NextGen POS used the Remove Items permission, rather than the All Adjustments or Allowed Adjustments permission, to determine if staff members could remove adjustments from a ticket. (Normally, the Remove Items permission should only enable servers to remove menu items from tickets, not adjustments.) We have corrected this, and the NextGen POS now allows servers associated with a permission set that includes the All Adjustments or Allowed Adjustments permission to remove auto-adjustments from tickets.
GNX-3466 POS Displays Original Tickets Properly
In previous versions, if you tried to view unoriginal review tickets in the reports screen, the POS may have quit abruptly. In the NextGen POS, access the Rooms screen, then tap the Options button. In the Options menu, tap Reports. In the Reports screen, tap Tickets. In the Tickets Report, if you selected a ticket and then tapped View Original, the POS may have quit abruptly instead of displaying the original ticket. We have corrected this, and now when you access the Tickets Report and view an original ticket, the POS displays the ticket properly.
GNX-3468 iOS Devices Running NextGen POS No Longer Automatically Lock Themselves
In previous versions, iOS workstations may have automatically locked themselves while running the NextGen POS, even when set to not do so. On an iPad, run the Settings app. In the Settings menu, tap Display & Brightness. In the Display & Brightness settings, tap Auto-Lock. In the Auto-Lock options, if you select Never, the iPad should never automatically lock itself, regardless of how long it may be idle.
However, when running previous versions of the NextGen POS, the iOS device may have automatically locked itself, even when its Auto-Lock setting was set to Never. We have corrected this, and now when you set an iPad’s Auto-Lock setting to Never, the device will not automatically lock itself while running the NextGen POS.
