Updates
The following release notes detail the fixes we have included in this release.
HR-46051 Force Offline credit card processing process revised
In previous versions of Genius Classic, if your location uses the Store-and-Forward feature, you may have encountered a problem. Previously, when using PAX processing with Portico, if you accessed the POS General Settings and tried to enable the Force Offline Credit Card Processing switch, the POS may have failed to enter Offline mode. In such cases, the POS displayed an error message ("Unable to change mode") with inaccurate and unhelpful directions.
We have corrected this by replacing the call the POS uses to enable its store-and-forward (SAF) mode. Therefore, with the location's PAX device configured correctly, when you enable the Force Offline Credit Card Processing switch in the General Settings, the POS enters Offline (store-and-forward) mode properly and remains on until disabled manually.
HR-63111 Warning message added to tip adjustments in enhanced bar tabs
In previous versions of Genius Classic, if your location uses the Enhanced Bar Tabs feature, you may have encountered a problem when adjusting tip amounts on card transactions. Specifically, if you adjusted a tip amount on a ticket, then "force quit" the POS, then restarted the POS, then accessed the same ticket and tried to adjust the tip amount again, the POS may have displayed an error message ("Already Compl."). In such cases, the POS combined the first and second tip adjustment amounts, instead of replacing the first adjustment amount with the second. This occurred because the POS was unable to process the tip adjustment fully before it was "force closed". To discourage users from "force quitting" the POS while it processes tip adjustments, we have added a popup message that displays while the POS processes such transactions, warning users to not close the POS while it is processing.
HR-63260 Accurate net sales and gross receipt totals in Daily Summary Report
In previous versions, the Admin Console may have listed inaccurate totals for Net Sales and Gross Receipts in its Daily Summary Report.
In such cases, these inaccuracies occurred in one of the following scenarios:
- When the POS applied cash rounding to a ticket's total after it was paid.
- When the POS applied a discount or adjustment to a non-revenue menu item.
- When the POS pre-authorized the total amount of multiple split tickets, but only received the total funds for one split ticket.
We have corrected these problems, and the Daily Summary Report now lists accurate totals for Net Sales and Gross Receipts calculated from the types of transactions described above.
HR-63720 POS no longer loses payment terminal selection after switching between device’s background and foreground
In previous versions of Genius Classic, when running the POS app, it may have "lost" its selected payment terminal while loading. In the POS, tap the Options button, then tap Settings. In the Settings screen, tap Payment Terminals. In the Payment Terminals screen, you can select a payment terminal for the POS to use.
However, in previous versions, if you accessed the Payment Terminals screen immediately after running the POS, it may have cleared (or deselected) its payment terminal, forcing you to select it again. Specifically, after launching the POS app, if you then (while it was still loading) switched the POS to the device's background and then switched it back to the foreground, it may have lost its payment terminal setting. We have corrected this, and now if you switch the POS app between the background and foreground while it loads, the POS no longer loses its selected payment terminal.
