What's New?
The following release notes detail the enhancements we have included in this release.
GNX-3616 Support for Request Screenshot feature in Troubleshoot panel
You can now use the Request Screenshot function with Genius POS apps running on XC23, iPads, and Mobile 2.0 devices. You can access this function in the Authorized Tablets screen. In the Admin Console's Main Menu, click Location Setup, then click Authorized Tablets. In the Authorized Tablets screen, on the POS tab, select a device in the list and click its Troubleshoot button.
The program opens the Troubleshooting panel, which displays information about the device that may be useful for diagnostic purposes. In this panel, if you click Request Screenshot, the tablet will take a screenshot of its own screen and upload it to the Troubleshooting panel, where you can then review it.
If you use the Request Screenshot function to collect a screenshot from a POS running on a Mobile 2.0 device, the POS will display a prompt requesting permission to take the screenshot. If you use the Request Screenshot function to collect a screenshot from a POS running on an iPad or XC23 device, the POS will display no permission prompt.
If the POS is running on an XC23 device with a CFD, the Request Screenshot function cannot take a screenshot while the CFD Preview screen is open.
Note: At this time, you still cannot use the Request Screenshot function with Genius POS apps running on ELO devices.
GNX-4465 Various improvements to POS navigation controls
Within the POS, we have made various changes to the navigation controls.
In the POS Menu screens, we have changed the appearance of the Home button by replacing its former text label ("Home") with an appropriate icon.
We have also changed the appearance of the Back button by replacing its former icon with the text label "Back".
We have also added the Home button to the following screens:
- Split Ticket screen
- Checkout screen
- Custom Tenders screen
- Discount screen
- Customer screen
- Ticket Info screen
In previous versions, these screens only included Back button. They now include both the Home and Back buttons.
In the POS Order screens, we have renamed the Remove Item button to Discard Item. In the Order screen, if you select an item that has not yet been sent to the kitchen printer, the POS displays the Discard Item button. If you tap Discard Item, the POS removes the item from the ticket. If you select an item that has been sent to the kitchen printer, the POS displays the Void Item button. If you tap Void Item, the POS prompts for a void reason and proceeds with a normal void transaction.
GNX-5094 Home button added to Modifier Selection screen
In the Genius for Restaurant POS, we have added the Home button to all Modifier Selection screens. In the POS, when you access a Modifier Selection screen, it now features the Home button in the top left corner.
This button enables you to exit any Modifier Selection screen and discard the ticket, even if the modifier selection is required to add its item. This enables servers to discard orders more quickly.
If you tap the Home button while in a Modifier Selection screen, the POS displays the Discard Ticket prompt.
If you tap Discard, the POS will discard the ticket and return to the Tickets screen. If you tap Cancel, the POS will close the prompt and return to the Modifier Selection screen.
Updates
The following release notes detail the fixes we have included in this release.
GNX-2948 No Sale button now visible in POS Options menu
In previous versions, if your location uses cash drawers, the No Sale button may not have been visible in the Options menu. When you tapped the Options button, the POS appeared to display the Options menu without the No Sale button. In such cases, the No Sale button was available but hidden, because it was the last button in the list and only visible if you scrolled down the menu (despite the absence of any indication that the list continued or that you could scroll further). We have corrected this, and now when you tap the Options button, the POS displays the Options menu with all buttons (including No Sale) immediately visible and accessible.
GNX-3538 Genius POS running on ELO devices no longer stall and "crash"
In previous versions, if your location runs Genius POS on ELO devices, the POS may have become unresponsive, its processing performance slowing or stalling, and ultimately quitting, requiring staff to restart the app. This was caused by a "memory leak" issue; when performing certain procedures repeatedly, the device was unable to process its memory allocation properly, causing it to eventually stall and fail. We have corrected this memory leak problem, and Genius POS no longer stalls and "crashes" when running on an ELO device.
GNX-3956 Short identifiers for size-specific pricing rules display properly with item names
In previous versions, the Genius for Restaurants POS may have displayed the short identifiers of pricing rules improperly in the Ticket panel. In the Admin Console’s Main Menu, click Menu, then click Pricing. In the Pricing Rules screen, click an existing pricing rule. In the rule's settings, in the Short Identifier box, you can enter a short name or abbreviation (usually two characters) for the pricing rule. For example, for a pricing rule called “Happy Hour”, you might enter “HH” as a short identifier. Later, when you add that item to a ticket, if its price has been modified by an active pricing rule, the POS will include the rule's short identifier (in parentheses) with the item's name in the Ticket panel.
However, in previous versions, the POS may have displayed the short identifiers of certain pricing rules in the wrong place. Specifically, if the rule was set to apply to items of a specific size, the POS may have displayed the rule's short identifier appended with the item's size, rather than the item's name, in the Ticket panel. We have corrected this, and the POS now displays size-specific pricing rules properly, appended to item names (not sizes) in the Ticket panel.
GNX-4552 POS now applies pricing rules properly to items, regardless of when their tickets are opened
In previous versions, if your location uses pricing rules, the POS may have failed to apply them. For instance, your location may have defined pricing rules to lower prices on drink items during a "Happy Hour" period. In such cases, if you opened a ticket a few minutes before "Happy Hour", then added drinks to the ticket shortly after "Happy Hour" began, the POS may have added the drinks with their standard unadjusted price. (Likewise, if you opened a ticket a few minutes before "Happy Hour" ended, then added drinks to the ticket shortly after "Happy Hour" ended, the POS may have added the drinks with their adjusted "Happy Hour" price.)
Normally, the POS should always apply a pricing rule to an applicable item when you add it to a ticket within the rule's time range, regardless of when the ticket was opened. (Likewise, the POS should always withhold a pricing rule if you order an applicable item outside of the rule's time range, even if you opened the ticket within the rule's time range.) We have corrected this, and the POS now applies pricing rules properly to items ordered within their time ranges, regardless of when tickets are opened.
