What’s New
The following release notes detail the enhancements we have included in this release.
HRTL-11199 Implement Additional Units of Measure for Items
For merchants needing to account for and sell items in units of measure other than the already available ounces for Weight, and inches for Width, Height, and Depth, we have expanded these options as indicated:
- The Weight field defaults to ounces, but now also allows you to select pounds, grams, or kilograms.
- The Width, Height, and Depth fields default to inches but now also allow you to select feet, yards, centimeters, and meters.
HRTL-11200 Add New Units of Measure to Item Exports
So that all aspects of inventory items are accurately reflected on item exports, we have added the newly implemented units of measure, as described in HRTL-11199, to these exports.
HRTL-12687 Implement Multi-Factor Authentication
Your security is a top priority here at Heartland. With this in mind, we have introduced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Heartland Retail Point of Sale (POS). Multi-factor authentication serves as an additional safeguard against cyber threats such as phishing attacks and unauthorized account takeovers. This security feature validates your identity by using two distinct "factors" of authentication during the login process. For more information about MFA, please refer to our Multi-Factor Authentication Guide.
HRTL-12933 Update Format of ‘Print Test Receipt’ Button
As part of our continuing efforts to implement consistency across all screens and platforms of the Heartland Retail app, we have updated the format of the Print Test Receipt button in POS settings and receipt setup to match other buttons.
HRTL-13004 Update Toast Messages When Updating POS Settings
This release includes clearer wording in the toast messages that display upon updating the POS settings so that users can be certain that their actions resulted in the intended outcome. To that end:
- If you toggle the Auto Print Receipts setting off or on, the ‘Successfully set the station attribute’ message now reads, ‘Successfully updated settings.'
- If you select the Clear All Selected Devices option, the ‘Customer display device selected’ message now reads, ‘Successfully cleared all selected devices.’
HRTL-13059 Update Message for Invalid Referenced Return Quantity
We have clarified the wording of the message that appears if you attempt to return more items than were included in the original sale on a referenced return. For example, imagine you are performing a referenced return where five of the item in question were sold. If you attempt to update the return quantity to a value greater than five, the POS will display a message reading, ‘Failed to add line: Unable to change qty. Maximum return qty is 5.’
HRTL-13073 Update Format of Daily Summary Screen Components
As part of our continuing efforts to implement consistency across all screens and platforms of the Heartland Retail app, we have updated the format of several components of the Daily Summary screen to match those in other areas of the app. These updated components include:
- Include Denominations toggle
- Print button
- Export PDF button
HRTL-13166 Allow for Negative Value in Price Prompt Field
With this release, the POS now allows merchants to enter negative values in the Set Unit Price field for items set to prompt for price. This allows for greater discretion and flexibility when selling such items.
HRTL-13192 Hide ‘Cancel Transaction’ Button When Processing Starts
To minimize the risk of unverified and/or duplicate card payments, the POS now displays the Cancel Transaction button only until a card payment is actually in process. Users can cancel transactions at any point when the option displays and, upon successful cancelation, the POS will display a confirmation message.
Once the payment device has received the card data and has connected to the host to begin processing, the cancel option will disappear from the screen.
Updates
The following release notes detail the updates we have included in this release.
HRTL-11532 Fix Unauthorized Access to Back Office
In previous versions, unauthorized users were sometimes able to log into the back office of the POS. This occurred for users logging in with roles that had no permissions assigned. We have addressed the underlying cause of this issue and such users are restricted according to their roles’ permissions as intended.
HRTL-11608 Fix Issue Automatically Adding Free Promotion Item
In previous versions, if you had a promotion configured to automatically add a free item after requirements were met, the POS sometimes failed to add the free item and displayed an error citing removal reason. With this release, the POS adds the free promotional item as expected and without error.
HRTL-12168 Fix MailChimp Sync Issue When No Updates Are Present
In previous versions, if you attempted to perform a MailChimp Sync for an account for which no updates had been made since the last sync, the process would get hung up and produce background errors. With this release, such syncs process as expected and without error.
HRTL-12915 Fix Issue Removing Sales Rep from Referenced Return
In previous versions, merchants were sometimes unable to remove sales reps from referenced return tickets if the original (parent) ticket had no sales rep assigned. In these instances, after assigning a sales rep to the return ticket, when they attempted to remove the sales rep, the process failed and the POS displayed an error reading, ‘Failed to operate with a ticket.’ With this release, the POS removes the sales rep as expected and without error.
HRTL-13144 Fix File Name Display Issue in iOS Web View
In previous versions, when opening downloaded files (such as Inventory -> Items -> Imports) on iOS systems using web view, the displayed file name at the top of the page did not reflect the actual file name. We have addressed this issue and such file names are correctly reflected as intended.
